Senior representatives from broadcast systems integration specialist ATG Danmon head to the Las Vegas Convention Center this month for the 2017 NAB conference and exhibition. Organised by the US National Association of Broadcasters, the event is the largest in the calendar of annual shows for television, radio and internet content producers.

Two companies from the Danmon Group will be exhibiting on the show floor: Marquis Broadcast at booth SL9030 in South Lower and NTP Technology in Central Hall with reseller plus24 on booth C3851.

Guests will also be invited across to the Danmon Group suite in the Westgate hotel adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Centre. NAB visitors and news media editors are warmly invited to meet with ATG Danmon representatives Russell Peirson-Hagger and Jonathan Hughes during the show. Email David Kirk (stylusmedia@gmail.com) or Russell Peirson-Hagger (russell.peirson-hagger@atgdanmon.co.uk) if you would like to schedule a specific time.

"Major trade shows have always been useful for face-to-face discussions with suppliers and for comparing the merits of the latest technical developments," says managing director Russell Peirson-Hagger.  "There is much to be gained from hands-on evaluations of the latest hardware, direct demonstrations of new software and discussions with the senior product developers.

"Manufacturers still target NAB and IBC for major product releases and announcements – we see both shows as great opportunities for introducing them to our key customers. We will be joined at NAB by colleagues from the Danmon Group who will be attending in force.

"We expect the 2017 NAB Show to continue reflecting the push towards IP-based infrastructure. IP has been promoted by many manufacturers for several years and we have now seen the first deployments. As a systems integrator it is important that we stay well-informed in order to advise on the right solution for specific customer requirements. 4K UHD will also continue to be a major theme and has already become a significant element of our systems integration activity.

"It will be interesting to determine the extent to which all the talk about IP solidifies into practical advantages compared with SDI," adds head of systems integration Jonathan Hughes. "Standards are still a sticking point. Broadcasters are awaiting the ratification of the next SMPTE recommendation which sets the roadmap for the IP open standards being promoted by the AIMS consortium."
